Most big businesses today do more harm than good. Most of the time this is due to the negative impacts their business creates not just for the local communities, but also for the environment. On top of that, they get to earn a lot through their different revenue streams.  This hardly seems fair but it is the truth.

Luckily, there are also big corporations who are aware of the power they hold and want to give back to the world. They mainly do this through corporate social responsibility. One such company would be Kroger Dayton Ohio. This article presents readers with a quick discussion on how corporate social responsibility works.

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to a corporation’s initiatives that seek to assess and address pertinent societal or environmental issues. Most of the time, this is done as a means for a company to take responsibility for its actions and offset the effects that it has had on the environment and local community. These efforts usually go above and beyond the necessary requirements laid out by the government, the regulators, and the advocacy groups.

Of course, by no means does this mean that corporate social responsibility applies only when the company has done something wrong and wants to make right. The term also applies when the company simply wants to give back to its host community.

This is why CSR is also often referred to as corporate citizenship. This because the seemingly apathetic entity that is often seen as above everyone else suddenly goes down to the level of the community and addresses the concrete problems prevalent there. Keep in mind that the company carries the burden of incurring short-term costs while promoting constructive changes to society and the environment.

This practice has become more and more popular over the past years, and we can only hope that this trend continues.

Kroger Dayton Ohio

As earlier mentioned, there is actually an increasing number of companies implementing their own corporate social responsibility programs. One of those businesses is Kroger Dayton Ohio. To be sure, there are also other businesses that do this in the Dayton area, but perhaps none do it more effectively and efficiently as this one.

This company has incessantly given back to the community through its many programs, all of which are dedicated to making positive change happen. These programs focus on promoting education, feeding the homeless, supporting the veterans, and fighting breast cancer.

For instance, in the previous year alone, it was able to give no less than $34.2 million in support of local education programs and schools. At the same time, it also gave local Dayton communities $220 million in food, funds, and products.

Obviously, the power that companies hold through their sheer size and profitability is huge. Most of the time, we see them as large and unfeeling entities that don’t really care what happens to the community and the environment.

Luckily, there are a few companies like Kroger Dayton Ohio that exercise their power responsibly. Let’s just hope that more companies follow their example.
